That is why we know that a helpful tips guide can turn an ordinary vacation into an extraordinary one. Review the tips below and don’t hesitate to contact us with any additional questions you may have:
Transportation: While it is easy to get around town in your own car, you should take advantage of Gatlinburg’s trolley system. It is affordable and very easy to use. There are seven color lines to choose from, all of which range from .50 to 2.00 per ride/per day. You can hop on and off without having to worry about parking or getting tired during the day.
Information/Coupon Books: There are informational booklets located all around Gatlinburg which are chock-full of ideas for your upcoming vacation. You can even request a free booklet by going to the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce website. Most of the books also contain coupons that can be used at Gatlinburg’s most popular attractions like the aquarium, all of the Ripley’s attractions and at many eateries downtown. These coupons will help you save money that you can use on your next stay with us at the Elk Springs Resort!
Bears: While there are bears living in the Great Smoky Mountains, you are likely not to run into one on your vacation. However, there are times when bears do wander onto the Elk Springs Resort. In those cases, we send out notices to all of our guests to ensure your safety at all times. If you do receive a bear warning, you should refrain from walking outdoors at night and keep all of your food indoors so as not to attract our large furry friends.
Smokys Starter Kit: When you are visiting the Great Smoky Mountains for the first time, it is easy to become overwhelmed. That is why we highly recommend picking up a starter kit from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Visitor’s Center. For just $5 you receive a booklet full of information about the park, its trails, rest areas, bathrooms and much, much more. With several booklets compiled into one, you can easily use it for all of your trips to the GSMNP.
Traffic Lights: If you ask for directions in Gatlinburg, you are likely to get a response involving a numbered traffic light. On the Parkway, the main street running through Gatlinburg, the lights are numbered from 1 to 10. You can find most of the major attractions by locating the numbered lights, such as Light 5 for the aquarium or Light 10 for the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
