If you are like many people right now, the end of the year seems to have sprung up out of nowhere. With the holidays having past us by, it is time to sit back and prepare for 2012. At Elk Springs Resort, there is nothing we love more than having our cabins filled with guests over the New Year’s Eve holiday. Nothing beats a beautiful night in the mountains with your loved ones as you make the countdown at midnight.
When you are searching for a fun getaway that has just the right mix of pizazz and relaxation, Elk Springs Resort is the spot. Just because Gatlinburg is located in the Great Smoky Mountains does not mean we are a sleepy town! There is plenty planned for this year’s end-of-year festivities and we hope that you will join us.
One of the most revered and anticipated events of the year is the annual ball drop. Join the locals at the base of the Space Needle to ring in the new year. As the clock strikes midnight the ball will become aglow and a musical accompaniment will ring across the cool mountain air. If that isn’t cool enough, how about a complete fireworks show? Thanks to Pyro-Shows, the fireworks will boom in sync with the music. Of course, not all of the fun is had just at midnight. In the hours leading up to the final countdown, enjoy the musical sounds of several local bands. They will play from the balcony of the Gatlinburg Convention Center which is situated at the Historic Nature Trail entrance.
While most of the crowd will be locals from in and around Gatlinburg, the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks show has garnered some national acclaim as well. People from across the country gather in the Great Smoky Mountains to ring in the new year in a memorable way. There are several restaurants and bars that offer special deals and packages leading up to midnight as well.
Of course, you do not need to ever leave your cabin on New Year’s Eve. Everything you need to have a party is right around you! Whether you are planning an intimate night in or inviting the whole family, our cabins cater to parties of all sizes. In fact, we often host parties that feature guests be-bopping from one cabin to the next. When you are secluded away in the mountains, you tend to get awfully chummy with your neighbors – even if you have just met that day! We recommend that you pick up a few bottles of bubbly, some yummy snacks and bring some music to the cabin. You can dance the night away or sit out on the porch with a glass of champagne and just revel in the fact that a whole new year means new beginnings of all types.
While we are getting ready to celebrate a new year, the staff at Elk Springs Resort would like to say thank you to all of our guests over the past year. We have enjoyed sharing not just our cabins with you, but your stories of great times had at the resort. We look forward to many more in 2012.
