If you are one of our regular visitors, you probably know the streets of Gatlinburg pretty well. This year, however, you may be surprised to see a few new restaurants and businesses that have opened their doors to the residents of Gatlinburg. We are so excited to try out these new places and to hear your feedback as well. After you check them out, don’t hesitate to leave some feedback on our Facebook page for your fellow cabin-goers:
Johnny Rockets: If you are a fan of classic American-style restaurants then you will want to visit Johnny Rockets. Located at 735 Parkway, Suite 2, Johnny Rockets offers all of your favorite meals like hamburgers, shakes and french fries, all of which are certain to make your mouth water. Since it is located close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance, you can reward yourself for a great hike by ordering breakfast, lunch or dinner. With so much to choose from, even the pickiest eaters in your family will find something to enjoy. (865) 430-5844
Loco Burro Fresh Mex Cantina: This restaurant opened up a few months ago and has already become a local favorite. It’s opening was attended by the city manager, mayor and vice mayor, all of whom can be seen eating there often. Located at 735 Parkway, this flavorful restaurant offers authentic Mexican fare at affordable prices. As Gatlinburg’s only rooftop patio restaurant, the Loco Burro has been extremely popular this summer. You will not want to miss the chance to see Gatlinburg from a new perspective while chowing down on some delicious eats. (865) 430-5624
Holly and Chief: OberGatlinburg is proud to present Holly and Chief, two black bear cubs born on May 9th this year. The cubs were born to Minnie who is part of the Minnie, a black bear that has been living at the Wildlife Encounter since 2001. A competition was held earlier this year to determine the names of the two baby cubs and the winners were Holly and Chief. The father bear, BJ, has also been living at OberGatlinburg for several years after he was found to have become too friendly with humans. All four are now living happily together and can be seen during the warmer months at OberGatlinburg.
Smoky Mountains Info and Maps: This store will be opening up any day now and the locals are pretty excited. Since tourism is Gatlinburg’s most popular industry, a store like this has been needed for some time now. New and returning visitors alike will be able to find out more about our beloved Gatlinburg. In addition to maps and info, however, you will also be able to purchase local meats and produce, as well as honey and jelly. Located at 1019 E Parkway, it is a short drive from your luxury cabin rental at the Elk Springs Resort.
While we always look forward to fresh faces, new restaurants and store openings, nothing beats visiting some of the old favorites as well. Each year Gatlinburg attracts even more visitors from around the country, even the world, which means that there are always new faces walking along the Parkway! As always, don’t hesitate to contact us at the main office via email, phone or snail mail when staying at one of our luxury Gatlinburg cabin rentals. If you happen to see something new and exciting downtown, please share it with us too so we can pass it along to our guests.
