Gatlinburg Halloween

Gatlinburg Halloween

Do you really need to just get away for a weekend? If so, this is the perfect weekend to do so! There is nothing the people of Gatlinburg like more than a fun-filled Halloween weekend. Whether you are 6, 36 or 66, there is something to be said about the innocent fun that can be had an All Hallows Eve. If you are bringing your family to Gatlinburg this weekend, there is plenty to see and do that will keep everyone entertained.

Are you afraid of the dark? Of things that go bump in the night? Then you might not be ready for Ripley’s Fright Nights. For those who dare, visit Ripley’s Haunted Adventure for its 13th anniversary spooking the good people and friends of Gatlinburg. This is the last weekend that you can take in the special show that has been getting scarier year after year. Starting at 6:13 p.m. with a character parade, only the fearless should dare to visit the Haunted Adventure.

Take a short walk from Ripley’s Haunted Adventure to get even more thrills at the Mysterious Mansion. Unlike other haunted houses, this is an actual mansion that is so authentic, you may wonder whether those ghosts you see are actors – or actual ghosts! Located on beautiful River Road, enter the Mansion at your own risk to explore hidden passageways, a dreary dungeon and more. Prepare yourself to be frightened by a legion of ghouls, goblins, ghosts and other scary creatures.

Those guests that are lucky enough to be staying at the Elk Springs Resort for Halloween Day, Monday the 31st, you are in for a treat. Bring the whole family along to the fourth annual Trick or Treat Carnival. Thanks to the combined efforts of Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, the Gatlinburg Fire Department and the Gatlinburg Police Department, this carnival is a safe and fun way to spend Halloween. The festival has grown by leaps and bounds since its first year; last year alone, 1,200 children had fun, learned safety tricks and ate candy at the festival. If your kids like candy, bounce houses and costumed characters, then you need to plan a trip to the Trick or Treat Carnival this year.

If you are visiting Gatlinburg this weekend and staying in a Gatlinburg cabin without little ones, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy one of the best parts of Halloween – the candy, of course! There are several places downtown on the Parkway where you can give your inner kid complete freedom to eat whatever you want. One of our favorite places to visit to satisfy our sweet tooth is Aunt Mahalia’s. Step inside and your taste buds will go crazy when you start taking in the delectable scents. Love fudge? How about crunchy brittle or peanut logs? There is something for everyone at Aunt Mahalia’s; it is impossible to walk out empty-handed!

After you have gathered up your favorite treats, head on back to your luxury cabin rental. If you are lucky enough to be staying in one of our cabins with a home theater room, you are in for a treat. Pop in your favorite scary movie and get comfortable in a reclining leather chair. There is nothing quite like being in the mountains, on Halloween, watching a scary movie and…wait, did you hear that? Don’t let your imagination get carried away with you!

Have questions about your next stay at the Elk Springs Resort? Call our main office or shoot us an email. Keep some candy by the door this weekend, you just might get a few trick-or-treaters.
