In Gatlinburg we don’t like to just talk about the coming of spring, we love to sing about it! That is why our mountain town hosts a variety of music events not only in the spring, but during the summer, fall and even the winter. One of our favorite events is the Smoky Mountain Music Festival that is held each year at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Led by W.J. Julian, the Director of Bands Emeritus from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, this event is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
What makes this event extra special is that it features students from local elementary, middle, junior high and senior high schools. Whether your own child is participating or you just want to experience the sweet sounds of the next generation, everyone is welcome to attend. The children will be competing in a variety of different disciplines, including concert band, jazz band, indoor drum line, madrigal choir, men’s and women’s choir and so much more. This year the festival will run from April 29-30, as well as May 6-7.
This is just one of many events that will be held at the Convention Center this spring and summer. The Elk Springs Resort Gatlinburg Cabins are just a short drive away from the center, making it the ideal spot for those who want to take in all the activities but still retreat to a quiet getaway, nestled snug into the Great Smoky Mountains.
If you need directions to the Convention Center from your luxury cabin rental, don’t hesitate to call or email us at the main office.
