History Comes to Life in Gatlinburg – Civil War Re-enactment
Gatlinburg
will witness living history June 19-21 as we welcome more than 150 Civil War re-enactors from the “Southern Guards Batallionâ€. They will set up an authentic Civil War era camp complete with demonstrations of camp food and blacksmithing. The weekend events also include a parade, cavalry and artillery demonstrations, and a “Meet the Generals†forum. Â
Â
The Seige of Gatlinburg will take place on Friday at 6 p.m., when soldiers march into Gatlinburg. The weekend’s activities climax on Saturday at 2 p.m. when the troops will re-enact the only Civil War battle that occurred in Sevier county, the “Battle of Burg Hillâ€. On Sunday at 10 a.m. you can attend a period church service and witness other demonstrations before the re-enactors break camp.Â
Â
The events will take place near Mills Park, and parking is available at the Gatlinburg Pittman High School and at Mills Park.
Â
Elk Springs Resort Gatlinburg Cabins is approximately 1.5 miles from Mills Park.
