History Comes to Life in Gatlinburg – Civil War Re-enactment

will witness living history June 19-21 as we welcome more than 150 Civil War re-enactors from the “Southern Guards Batallion”.  They will set up an authentic Civil War era camp complete with demonstrations of camp food and blacksmithing.  The weekend events also include a parade, cavalry and artillery demonstrations, and a “Meet the Generals” forum.  

 

The Seige of Gatlinburg will take place on Friday at 6 p.m., when soldiers march into Gatlinburg.  The weekend’s activities climax on Saturday at 2 p.m. when the troops will re-enact the only Civil War battle that occurred in Sevier county, the “Battle of Burg Hill”.  On Sunday at 10 a.m. you can attend a period church service and witness other demonstrations before the re-enactors break camp. 

 

The events will take place near Mills Park, and parking is available at the Gatlinburg Pittman High School and at Mills Park.

 

Elk Springs Resort Gatlinburg Cabins is approximately 1.5 miles from Mills Park.
