Wonderful Gatlinburg Winter Magic
Want to join in on the fun? It begins November 5 through February 28. People of all ages can be entranced at the traditional mountain scenes, the colorful and magnificent winter displays, the playful teddy bears and other familiar, much loved displays both downtown and along Hwy.321 which has been making Gatlinburg a must see destination for generations and everyone always enjoys themselves regardless of age.
Winter Magic Tunes & Tales will begin during the holiday season, where everyone can meet characters and storytellers and enjoy the caroling and all the entertainment along the Parkway weekend evenings.

While the magical Friday and Saturday nights of Winter Magic Tunes & Tales, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be at the Riverbend mall so that all the children can meet Santa. Also Zeno the Gatlinburg Bear has decided to skip hibernation this year to make an appearance and greet holiday visitors on the streets.
Friday nights on the Parkway they will have a Yule Log fireside sing-along for the whole family to get together and sing their favorite holiday season songs.

Gatlinburg’s Christmas Lights - Spectacular Winter Magic
November 5 through January 31, 2008 - Come join the fun with a guided trolley ride of Gatlinburg’s spectacular Winter Magic Chirsmats lighting displays and Christmas decorations. The trolleys depart from Mass Transit/Trolley Center at Ripley’s Aquarium Plaza. Tours will be leaving nightly at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. beginning November 5 the only exception is on December 5, 24, 25 and the 31, and run each Saturday in January.

Trick or Treat - Halloween day in Gatlinburg
Starting at noon on Halloween in downtown Gatlinburg the Trick or Treat Carnival will feature a pumpkin contest, games, costumed characters and plenty of Candy. End the evening with a hayride starting from the Aquarium or trick or treating down the Gatlinburg strip, a downtown Gatlinburg tradition.

Gatlinburg Craftmen’s Fair
This Fall the Craftmen’s Fair returns to the Great Smoky Mountains. From October 9th to the 26th, over 200 artisans and craftspeople will be hosting their wares at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. The event will also feature several live country and bluegrass shows.
We’re starting to see some of the leaves changing color. It’s still too early to say the fall colors have officially started, but we’ll know more in a few weeks. Here is a live shot of the great smoky mountains from our live Gatlinburg webcam mounted atop “Almost Heaven“.

Friday Night Lights in Gatlinburg - High School Football
If you have the itch for high school football while in Gatlinburg, the Gatlinburg Pittman Highlanders return from a 10-1 season in 2007. Located about 3 minutes from Elk Springs Resort, Hammonds stadium is tucked into the mountains and admission is $3 for adults. Home games are at 7:30 and you can always find a seat. Hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and other items are all about $1 each.

2008 Fall Grand Rod Run Car Show - Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg TN
September 11-14, 2008 - one of the largest hot rod shows in the country makes its fall appearance in Pigeon Forge. 100’s of cars will be on display up and down the strip in Pigeon Forge competing to when in several categories, but mostly having fun. 1000’s flock to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to enjoy the weekend show.
If you prefer to avoid the heavy traffic and want a chance to enjoy the park, the leaves, the football weekend; Gatlinburg is a great alternative for this crowded weekend.
National Story Telling Conference comes to Gatlinburg
From August 7th thru August 10th, the National Storytelling Conference comes to Gatlinburg Convention Center and according to the NSN, “The National Storytelling Conference (NSC) brings together National Storytelling Network (NSN) members, as well as individuals and organizations from the community, who are interested in the art and application of storytelling. Members and non-members present material appealing to attendees’ variety of interests and developmental needs. Stories make connections. Through diverse programming, we will explore the connections that storytelling can make between individuals, groups, generations, cultures, classes, and occupations. Through the 2008 conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we will honor our storytelling ancestors while making connections to an ever-expanding future for the art. ”

The View - The Newest of Gatlinburg Rentals

Live Gatlinburg Webcam View of Mt. LeConte - The Great Smoky Mountains
Elk Springs Resort is currently live with the most recent webcam from the Great Smoky Mountains. The webcam is mounted atop “Almost Heaven“, a 4 bedroom 4.5 bath with theater room and sauna. The camera looks out upon Mt. LeConte - Elevation 6,593 Feet.
It can be a little hazy depending on the location to the mountains, sun position and temperature. The camera will be dark at night with the exception of one gas street light on Elk Springs Way.

Free Live Entertainment in Downtown Gatlinburg
Just a reminder that Tunes & Tales is still going on and will continue until August 9, 2008. Tunes & Tales features a collection of live entertainment from Cloggers, to Music to Storytellers. The music and cloggers are on each night from 7 until 10pm and are positioned throughout the strip from Ripleys down to the Brewery.
From Elk Springs Resort guests can either take the trolley or it is an easy 8 minute drive to the first parking garage at stop light #3. Once in the garage you can walk and avoid the typical street traffic.
