What do pumpkins, red leaves, hot cups of cider and cool nights make you think of? If autumn was your answer, then you must be as excited as we are for a change in season. While we do look forward to summer every year, fall is a welcome respite from the sweltering days that drive us into air-conditioned homes and cabins. With the autumnal equinox right around the corner, our city is preparing to enjoy everything that represents the fall season, and we are so excited that you will be staying with us to enjoy it.
Starting on September 15 and running until October 31, the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is a true celebration in the Great Smoky Mountains. The beginning of the festival coincides with the first changing of the leaves, one of the most magical times during the year. You can witness over 800 square miles of greenery transform into a warm palette of reds, oranges, pinks and yellows. As September turns into October these colors will be the most exciting and will inspire people from all around the country to come visit the glorious changes.  If you need a map to our Gatlinburg Cabins, you can find them on our directions page.
While the transformation of the Great Smoky Mountains is the primary focus of the festival, there are tons of great events that will take place during that time. All around Gatlinburg you will find fall-inspired themes, such as fresh dishes based on food grown in the area, paintings inspired by the moutains themselves and tons of games for the kids. You will want to pick up a pumpkin or two at one of the many pumpkin patches you can find in and around the city, and don’t forget to get some apple cider to warm up at your luxury cabin rental. Nothing beats sittting in a rocking chair on the balcony of your luxury cabin rental, holding a cup of warm cider and gazing out into the mountains.
While you are at the Elk Springs Resort Gatlinburg Cabin Rentals, you are just a short drive away from great fall activities. Below are just a few we recommend that you explore:
