A Gatlinburg Christmas at Dollywood

Not just an amusement park, Dollywood features 5 of the South’s largest festivals during it’s operating season of March to December.┬á During the holiday season, Dollywood features “Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas” which includes nightly fireworks, special Christmas Shows, Dollywood’s “Babes in Toyland” and among other activities, a daily Chrismas Parade of Lights.┬á Dolly Parton’s Dollywood is open until 9pm through out the month of December.

The weather in December can be interesting.┬á The Average high is 51 degrees Farenheit and average low is 28.┬á Generally, the temperature during the morning, evening and night will be┬ácold especially if there is a wind or breeze.┬á It’s not uncommon to get snow flurries.┬á So dress warm if you intend on staying for the nightly fireworks.

….And don’t forget, Dollywood is a major amusment park with several roller coasters and thrill rides.┬á This year Dollywood rolled out their latest thrill ride on Friday the 13th, “The Mystery Mine”, and┬áat an estimated 17.5 million dollar price tag it’s both a themed event and ride in one.

Dollywood is located less than 10 minutes from Elk Springs Resort Luxury Gatlinburg Cabins.  From the resort, Guests can exit to the right on Powdermill Rd. and travel 4.8 miles until the Road ends.  It will end at Upper Middle Creek Rd., however, the road is unlabeled.  Turn Left and travel 1.4 miles to Dollywood on the right. The backroad access to Dollywood and Pigeon Forge is yet another benefit to staying at Elk Springs Resort Gatlinburg Cabins.  There are not many cabins resorts or rental cabins in Gatlinburg with such easy access to both Gatlinburg, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and access to Dollywood via 1 stop sign.
