Spring, summer, winter and fall: there just isn’t a season when Ober Gatlinburg isn't open and ready to provide your family with hours of entertainment. To access Ober, simply jump on the tram located at the Parkway downtown and allow yourself to be carried up the mountain. You will want to have your camera handy in order to capture the one-of-a-kind views that you will take in on the ascent and descent.
Named one of the ten best ski destinations in the United States by AOL Travel, Ober provides wintry fun for skiers of all ages and levels. You can also go snow-tubing and ice skating, or just frolic in the snow if that is more your speed. As the weather warms up there is still plenty to do on the mountaintop. Throw on a bathing suit and get a little wet on the Alpine Slide or the Blue Cyclone Rapids; learn about the local animals at Wildlife Encounter; get lost in the Amaze’n Maze; or let loose in the Arcade & Redemption Center.
Most attractions cost $3.50 apiece; save some money by purchasing a booklet for ten attractions for just $31.50. You should always check with their website, however, as Ober is always running a great deal. Tickets for the aerial tramway cost $11 for adults and $8.50 for children age 7 to 11; children under six are free but must ride with a paying adult. Operating hours fluctuate seasonally, so be sure to check ahead before planning your day on the mountain.
